DragonEx Hacked -- Users’ Crypto ‘Transferred and Stolen’
#1
On Monday (March 25), Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange DragonEx announced via Telegram that it had been hacked, and that cryptoassets belonging to the exchange as well as to its users had been "transferred and stolen."
DragonEx announced this terrible news on Monday by posting a notice to the "DragonEx_EN_Announcements" Telegram channel that stated:
  • It had "encountered attacks from hackers" on Sunday (March 24) as a result of which "users' crypto assets and Platform crypto assets were transferred and stolen."
  • Some of the stolen funds "were retrieved."
  • The exchange would do its best to get back the rest of the stolen assets.
  • Authorities in Singapore and several other jurisdictions (including Estonia, Thailand, and Hong Kong) had been notified of this "cyber crime", and the exchange is assisting the police with their investigation.
  • All services on the platform had been suspended and the "accurate assets loss recovery situation" (meaning that the exact amount of the loss) would be announced in one week.
  • The exchange "will take the responsibility" for the users' losses "no matter what."
Apparently, immediately after the exchange discovered on Sunday that it had been hacked, it announced (via the same Telegram channel) that the platform had been taken offline due to system maintenance/upgrade, and it was not until Monday that users found out that the exchange had in fact been hacked.
Earlier today, Joanne Long, a member of DragonEx's customer support staff, announced on the Telegram channel "DragonEx Official (EN)" that, so far, DragonEx had discovered that the stolen cryptoassets had been transferred to the following wallet addresses:

She also said:
Quote:"we earnestly request help from all our fellow exchanges and other industry strength, please help us to investigate and traced the assets, freeze them and stop the assets flows."

She later added information about the wallets on Huobi, Binance, and Bittrex that some of the stolen funds had been moved to:
Quote:After investigation, the stolen assets from DragonEx were transferred to the following address on Huobi, we earnestly request help from our fellow exchange, please help us to freeze the account, we will provide with sufficient evidence to prove the assets ownership. One bit of good news is that, according to Joanne, "the stolen assets transferred to Huobi and gate.io are blocked already!"
